Application to Become a Peer Mentor
The guiding philosophy of the Peer Mentorship Program is “Students Helping Students”.
Would you like to:
- Serve as an energetic and enthusiastic volunteer to help a student succeed at College of the Rockies?
- Provide assistance and support for a fellow student?
- Serve as a resource for a student at the College?
- Help facilitate and encourage participation in Student Life activities… and more?
- Serve as a positive role model?
- Gain valuable volunteer experience for your employment resume or scholarship application?
Qualifications:
- Be a current full-time College of the Rockies student (at least 60% course load or 3 courses in each semester). Part-time students may be considered.
- Have previously completed one semester of course work.
- Be in good academic and student conduct standing.
- Be willing to learn and share information about the College of the Rockies community, student life, and campus resources.
- Demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Have a genuine desire to help your peers succeed.
- Demonstrate leadership potential.
- Be self-motivated with a positive attitude.
- Have a desire to participate in mutual learning opportunities.
Specific responsibilities of a Peer Mentor:
- Display a willingness to learn.
- Complete program training
- Meet with student once per week for the duration of the position. (2 term position)
- Serve as a positive social and academic role-model.
- Inform student peers about various resources and services available at College of the Rockies and within the community.
- Attend various social events with student peers to build social skills and friendships at events offered by Student Life, Student Association, International Department and Indigenous Education.
- Complete a brief reflection of your experience both mid way through and at the end of your participation.
